20 years ago in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment Chocolate Dreams Ltd was founded by Michelle Anne Smith. Flunking Home Economics at school, she began making chocolates and truffles guided by recipes of great chocolatiers and a flourless chocolate cake which she sold to a local restaurant and a small boutique hotel. From there she made her White Rum Truffles and there the journey began at the Jamaica Observer Food Awards showcasing her sweet treats. Fast forward today, her retail store and factory has survived hurricanes, fires, a major pandemic as well as the difficulties of a woman led business. Her mission is to ensure the world sees Jamaica as a leading provider of luxury chocolates and desserts. The company’s tagline - created with passion handmade with love in Jamaica.

The idea for Chocolate Dreams came through Smith’s passion to be financially secure as well as to put Jamaican chocolate back on the map.  She acquired skills through intense research and knowledge via the computer coupled with visiting trade shows and other similar businesses in the U.S.   Many late nights saw Michelle Smith and her family and friends making and packing boxes for delivery to         clients from a tiny kitchen.  Nominated for Best New Product for the Jamaica Observer Food Awards 2002 with her Original Sin/White Rum Truffles, Michelle Smith became a sole trader and in May 2004, Chocolate Dreams ventured into a 900 square ft. building company at 9 Roosevelt Avenue, Kingston 6. The company manufactures a wide variety of handcrafted Chocolates and truffles, infused with Jamaican flavors such as rum, spices and scotch bonnet pepper.  Their baking department which produces a wide variety of chocolate desserts, such as their Signature White Chocolate Cheesecake and Triple Pleasure Chocolate Cake.  The products are distributed through many retail outlets  including the supply of their products to the restaurant and cafe trade such as Spanish Court Cafe and Hotel, Chez Maria, Y Not Pita, Miss T’s, all Uncorked Jamaica locations and East Japanese Restaurant. Chocolate Dreams also provides hotel amenities (turn-down) chocolates for the tourism sector, and may be found in Oceans H10 Hotel in Trelawny, Jamaica.  They also operate a chocolate fountain rental service.
